Catwalk by TIGI collaborate with designer Christopher Kane to celebrate the inextricable link between Hair and Fashion
Inspired by fashion and created by industry professionals, Catwalk by TIGI partners with Christopher Kane to create an iconic hair accessory for the Autumn/Winter 2012 season. TIGI’s inimitable hair styling alongside Christopher Kane’s leather-esque binding and playful knots creates a modern take on the hair band.
Described as ‘unrivalled on the fashion circuit’ by Anna Wintour and former winner of the British Fashion Council’s Designer of the Year, Christopher Kane is a long term collaborator of TIGI, whether styling the brand’s hair look books for the season or creating hair for his London Fashion Week shows, Kane is excited about this next collaborative effort:
“I used accents of black leather in my AW12 collection and so wanted to create a hairband for TIGI that had the same attitude. A double strand in soft mock leather adds toughness and strictness and keeps the hair controlled and modern” says Kane The synergy between TIGI’s Creative Director Nick Irwin and Christopher Kane perfectly illustrates the bond and shared creative vision between hair stylist and designer.
“We believe hair and fashion are intrinsically linked” says Nick, “It’s important that we translate the ideas we create backstage at catwalk shows into looks that girls can wear in their everyday lives and do themselves”
Kane’s carefully considered styling combined with Irwin’s unique approach to hair has generated a series of images that illustrate TIGI’s super modern take on hair with Kane’s accessory as a key element to the overall look.
“I love this hairband as it has a multitude of uses and really channels Christopher’s AW 12 main collection” says TIGI’s Nick Irwin. “Place the band around the head and simply tie hair back into a loose knot or for a softer look; weave tendrils of hair through the band – this is one way to instantly update your look for the coming AW season and beyond”
