Vestiaire Collective appoints ShopStyle VP as Managing Director for UK Business
Vestiaire Collective, the pre-owned, luxury, fashion website has appointed Shannon Edwards to lead the company’s growth in the UK. Edwards joins Vestiaire Collective as Managing Director, five months after the French fashion phenomenon launched here and as its popularity with consumers rockets.
Shannon Edwards has a successful track record of catapulting start-up businesses to market leading positions. She joins Vestiaire Collective from ShopStyle Europe where she was Vice President and Managing Director for Europe having launched the business in the UK in 2008 and France and Germany in 2009 growing Europe to more than 2 million monthly unique users and over three thousand fashion brands and retailers.
Edwards is a doyenne of internet shopping. Before joining ShopStyle, she was a Director at eBay’s Shopping.com where she led the sales and merchant services teams and communications effort across the US and EU in San Francisco and London. She launched Shopping.com in France and was part of the team that brought the DoorOne brand to market. Previous to that she managed marketing communications for movies-by-mail company Netflix.
Shannon started her career as a journalist before moving into public relations with Fleishman Hillard where she rose to Senior Vice President. It was here between 2000 and 2003 that she began working with digital brands including Yahoo! (Shopping, Autos, Careers, Small Business), Drugstore.com, Bluenile.com, Bigwords.com, KBKids.com.
Vestiaire Collective is causing quite a stir in the fashion market. Launched in Paris in 2009 as a chic marketplace to buy and sell designer fashion, Vestiaire Collective has become a cult online fashion community as women clamor to find the latest must have handbag or blouse from the coolest Parisian wardrobes.
Vestiaire Collective already has a global community of fashionistas who are avidly buying and selling the most desirable fashion pieces, from Roland Mouret Dresses to Isabel Marant ankle boots. The business launched in the UK in March 2012 to capitalize on the growing number of British consumers registering, buying and selling through the French site.
Vestiaire Collective was founded by French internet entrepreneur, Sébastien Fabre who alongside five co-founders has developed the business by integrating a strong social community with ecommerce. The site gives consumers a platform to share, discuss and review fashion trends, labels, brands and items, yet closely monitors the buying and selling of goods to ensure that each piece is in excellent condition and is beautifully presented and delivered to the end consumer. The site manages all financial transactions to ensure that the seller has absolute peace of mind with items that often have a very high ticket value.
