Updated classics are the secret of great men’s style, which is why H&M has updated its Modern Classics range to ensure it provides the ultimate in wardrobe essentials. The focus is on suiting, with cuts influenced by Carnaby Street of the 1960s, and an updated take on East Coast preppy dressing. For early autumn, cotton blazers come half-lined, and can be worn with matching trousers or with the modern styling twist of some cotton slacks in strong blue or green. Indeed vivid colour brings a modern touch to fine-gauge knitwear, with contrast colour elbow patches, which look their best teamed with a crisp shirt in Bardot checks. As the season develops, tweeds and flannels become ever more important, making sure the classics are always modern at H&M.
In the film clip you can see fashion stylist and writer Tom Stubbs styling his favourite pieces from the Modern Classic Collection.

Together, BlackBerry and Vice Style bring you Visionaries, a look at the established and up-and-coming individuals who make fashion happen. Each film stars a seminal fashion visionary and a rising star of their choosing. The visionaries are the art directors, designers, stylists, photographers and editors who broke ground with their work and helped define the look of a generation. Their chosen luminaries have the potential to alter the landscape of fashion in years to come, embodying the fashion world’s predilection for innovation and subversion of the accepted blueprint. These edifying films reveal the inimitable qualities that got these people where they are today - the skill, passion, luck, and unique personal vision. The fashion world is evolving faster than ever and influencing our culture in ways we never imagined, due in part to the democratisation of the internet. With the advent of fashion film well underway as the medium de jour, the lines between fashion and art are becoming increasingly blurred. Through a close up on these two individuals we ultimately observe how far the industry has come and where it is headed next.

VV Brown turns up the style, turns down the heat with Global Cool
VV Brown - renowned for her quirky and vintage inspired look has taken on the Global Cool challenge to work with stylist to the stars, Arabella Boyce to find the perfect outfit for when she’s at home writing music that is so hot, she’d turn her heating down to 18 degrees.
After much debate and decision making, Arabella and VV opted for an American Retro checked shirt dress in a vibrant ruby red with a black long wool ‘Cassi Wool’ cardigan from Reiss, with a peaked bobble hat from Barts for extra quirk and bad hair days…
The checked shirt is the perfect nod to this seasons boyfriend inspired trends, but with VV’s bare legs and the uber-feminine cardigan, she remains true to her form - all without a hessian sack in sight!

Stella Tennant turns up the style, turns down the heat with Global Cool
British model Stella Tennant heads up Global Cool’s latest campaign, ‘18 degrees of inspiration’ which aims to inspire fashionistas to turn their heating down to an environmentally friendly 18 degrees Celsius - not only saving cash, but also improving your health and even helping you lose weight.
Stella explains that heating within the home accounts for 30% of the average Brit’s carbon footprint, which is even more than cars which produce at 26.1%, and goes on to lay out the benefits of taking control of your home’s central heating. Figures show that for every one degree you turn your heating down, you could save up to £40 a year and go from burning 20 calories an hour to 80 calories an hour - all while you’re sleeping.
But of course, no one is suggesting you sit there freezing in your home, or even worse, wrap yourself up in sludge coloured fleeces and thermal underwear - which is why Global Cool have united some of the UKs most progressive, fashion forward stylists with the likes of Laura Bailey and VV Brown to create chic and on trend looks which are hot and warm.

Adam Croasdell turns up the style, turns down the heat with Global Cool
Eastenders star Adam Croasdell has a first date, so to help ease away the stress and anxiety, we enlisted menswear designer PC Williams to style and reassure Adam into turning his heating down to 18 degrees.
PC bought along a selection of chunky knits which are ideal for a cosy night in with the heating down low…and Adam couldn’t have been more enthusiastic about the selection of goodies PC picked out for him - including chunky work boots, Reindeer emblazoned T Shirts and even a pair of duck egg blue trousers. Unfortunately, he didn’t share this enthusiasm for the floral print shirts!
The pair settled on the ultimate date outfit, a chunky cream cable knit 1979 Reiss jumper layered with a long sleeved crew t-shirt from Gap and a pair of Low rise slim body jeans from Calvin Klein. Now if that doesn’t impress his date, we’re not sure what will?

Laura Bailey turns up the style, turns down the heat with Global Cool
As an international model, Laura Bailey spends a lot of time in hotels - whether she’s holding meetings, being interviewed or recovering from a hectic shoot. So, Global Cool sent stylist extraordinaire Grace Woodward to meet Laura at London’s The Bentley Hotel to put a look together that’s both fashion forward and warm enough to turn the thermostat down to 18 degrees.
As a model, Laura knows more than anyone the damage that central heating can cause to your skin - but she also shares Global Cool’s concern for the environment - so Grace went to work - pulling out everything from feathered shift dresses to super insulating bodies to create the perfect look.
The pair settled on a chic Whistles ‘Danni Zip’ biker dress, with a Cheap Monday scoop back white T-shirt for warmth and vital layering credentials; finished off with grey perfect fit matt Falke tights and a pair of black platform Sahara shoes from French Connection.

Leah and Jo Wood turn up the style, turn down the heat with Global Cool
One of Britain’s best loved mother / daughter outfits, Leah and Jo Wood, have called on the expertise of renowned stylist William Gilchrist to create the perfect looks for the launch of their upcoming, organic and sustainable pop up restaurant, Mrs. Paisley’s Lashings at their palatial Kingston mansion.
Laden down with soft fabrics, autumnal shades and some vertiginous heels, William remains loyal to the pairs individual looks - retaining Leah’s casual and relaxed chic and Jo’s Sixties hippy chick chic, whilst at the same time transforming them into the hosts with the most!
Leah opts for an Acne top with a plunging V neck, layered with an Unconditional merino wool kimono knit complete with dramatic sleeves, finished off with a pair of grey over the knee socks from ASOS and a pair of patent shoeboots inspired by Alexa Chung, also from ASOS.
Jo also went for a similar palette of soft, warm hues - in a grey long sleeved dress from ASOS and black Reiss Cassi Wool cardigan, a superwide elastic waist belt (also from ASOS) cinches in Jo’s waist to strengthen her silhouette and a pair of (faux) snakeskin shoes by Gaspard Yurkievich - a far cry from the sequins and feathers of Strictly Come Dancing…

Get New York City Fashion Week hair with Jeanie Syfu
TRESemme celebrity stylist Jeanie Syfu tells us how to get New York Fashion Week ready - using her hair expertise so we can all get that fresh out of the styling chair look.
The catwalk was full of ‘look at me’ trends - including assymetrical details and straps, bright colours and embellishment, so Jeanie advices sleek and simple undo’s - whether it’s straightened and down, or in a messy bun with smooth roots.
But do not be alarmed! Jeanie talks us through three easy steps to get fashion week worthy hair - including tips on blow drying and some top product recommendations.
James Brown: On golden Kate Moss going chocolate brown and cutting hair in restaurants
Celebrity hairdresser James Brown on cutting Kate's hair and persuading her to change her look
James Brown - hair stylist guru and best friend of the one-and-only Kate Moss talks exclusively to t5m about his somewhat unorthodox approach to cutting hair…
We all remember Kate’s directional pixie bob from a few years back…well, it will no doubt surprise you to learn that that this wasn’t the result of an agonisingly long consultancy - with Kate umming and aahing over her new look. Instead, James cut Kate’s hair while she was on her way out - fully made up and dressed! And that’s not the first time he’s completed an impromtou cut - James has even cut a friend’s hair while eating in a restaurant…
He also tells us how he is trying to persuade Ms. Moss to part from her trademark blonde, and become a brunette.
Get the Meadham Kirchoff ethereal beauty with help from MAC's Neil Young
London Fashion Week isn’t just about showcasing next seasons clothes - it’s also about next season’s make up trends and ‘must do looks’. And of course, t5m wouldn’t want you to go without, so we met up with MAC’s senior artist, Neil Young to recreate the Meadham Kirchoff look - think ethereal shimmers, glimmers and shines.
Sometimes catwalk make up can be too much for real life - green lipstick anyone? But fortuantely for us, and our presenter, the Meadham Kirchoff look was all about natural and wearable peachy blushers and coral lip colour.
Neil tells us how to get a dewy, fresh faced look from our foundation, as well as how to line our eye sockets and sculpt our eyebrows - next season is all about the fuller brow, so make sure you pay attention!
And the result? Absolutely gorgeous - we’re just wondering in Neil’s available to do our make up every day next summer?
Day 5: The final day of London Fashion Week pushes the boundaries
The final day of London Fashion Week saw designers push the boundries in terms of style and substance.
Home grown designer Amanda Wakeley returned to the catwalk with a collection of typically elegant dresses in hues of saffron, cinnamon and copper in jersey, satin and chiffon. Oversized gold and silver jewellery featured coils wrapped around the neck or waist .
British – Brazilian duo Basso and Brooke showed a collection of traditional power prints with bold colourful graphics on draped dresses featuring sharp lines and sheer cut out panels.
Erdem stunned the crowds with their Japanese inspired floral prints with simple make-up for a toned down look.
Burberry was the biggest draw of London Fashion Week and the British power house said it was thrilled to be back in the capital for the 25th anniversary of the event.
Fashion guru Anna Wintour graced the front row along with style icons Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and and emerging fashionista Emma Watson. The traditional trench coat was transformed into a thigh skimming mini in pale pink satin while silk chiffon and gauze featured heavily.
Rose feathered leather coats came with ruched, skintight leggings and silk trousers, rolled up to show pastel socks with strappy cone-heeled platfoprm sandals are the key trends to look out for this summer.
Day 4: Femininity makes a welcome return to the catwalk
London went into a girly-girl frenzy with femininity making a welcome return to the catwalk.
Christopher Kane led the style stakes with his hotly anticpated catwalk show. A knockout selection of gingham chiffon, fan pleating, puff sleeves, and thigh-split dresses stole the show.
Kane’s latest ‘good girl, gone bad’ collection, shown yesterday, suggests 2010 could be his year. Kane’s hip style spliced with serious sex appeal now looks sufficiently polished to charm a heavy-hitting front row which included super sophisticated fashion guru Anna Wintour, king of style Sir Philip Green, uber-cool designer Donatella Versace and the gorgeous supermodel Natalia Vodianova.
Luella Bartley unveiled a collection of sweet, girly prints and colourful dresses. Ultra girlish details came from heart shapes cut into dress bodices, big plastic hair bows and cute polka dots.
Aiming to replace fashions love for black, Luella’s palette featured bright, cheerful sugar pinks, lemon and lipstick reds. Jamie Winstone and Alexa Chung were amongst the celebs spotted at Luella.
Layering and flimsy gowns worked in harmony to illustrate a new body silhouette at Meadham Kirchhoff with black patent lace-ups courtesy of Topshop.
Meadham Kirchhoff sees us wearing bright pink tunics over double layered skirts in draped, pleated chiffon in neutral shades, perfect for those lazy summer days.
Marios Schwab’s body-conscious designs translated into sophisticated three-part dresses with cropped, pleated silk tops layered over tunics
Lastly, Jaegar followed the success of its first show in February with an airy mix of colour and a hint of vintage talioring. The monochrome theme was echod with three-tone patent stack-heel booties and cream and black knits.
MaxFactor's Pat McGrath backstage at Issa on recreating the Issa look
It’s not just the clothes that get us all excited at London Fashion Week - it’s also the elaborate hair and make up which set the look for forthcoming beauty trends.
So t5m caught up with Max Factor Creative Director and international make up guru, Pat McGrath backstage at Issa, as she prepared the likes of Naomi Campbell and Chanel Iman for their catwalk moment.
The Issa collection was inspired by a tropical storm - think deep greens, rich golds, molten metallics and blacks and greys - and Pat transferred this theme into the make up, with heavy, rich eye colour, sweeping black eyeliner and thick, dramatic eyelashes. Pat has been using Max Factor ‘Lash Effect’ mascara, which she credits with creating the false eyelash effect on her models! She then compliments this eye make up with a simple ‘melon’ shade of nude and shimmering lip gloss.Pat even gives us tips on how to recreate this dramatic look at home - advising us to go easy on the eyeliner, but to experiment with colour!
Asked to pick out her favourite trend from the shows so far, and Pat is torn between the romantic look we’ve seen at Louise Goldin and Jasper Conran, and the more, edgy and powerful looks at House of Holland and Issa herself!
Day 3: Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Julien Macdonald shine on Sunday
Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and Julien Macdonald wow the A-list crowds at London Fashion Week
Where as Saturday was a cocktail of old and new designers - Sunday saw some of the world’s biggest names take to London Fashion Week with their Spring/Summer collections.
The acceptable face of sportwear, Stella McCartney’s collaboration with Adidas shimmered with futuristic metallics and pearly whites - a theme also picked up by fashion week favourite Betty Jackson whose romantic collection of frills and folds in nude tones and pastel pinks was inspired by Shanghai and Sarah Moon photography.
Central St. Martin’s graduate, Louise Goldin, whose previous collections have featured acid brights and gothic black, also opted for this sensual and feminine colour palette, with lots of fans, pleating and structured shoulders giving her collection a memorable edge. That, and her crystal encrused shoes, of course!
Matthew Williamson’s return to London caused a real stir on planet fashion with a departure from his usual boho/beachy feel, with richly textured pencil skirts and techno print t-shirts. The Telegraph’s Hillary Alexander praised his work, as did Twiggy - who told us she already wanted about six items from the collection!
Julien Macdonald, famed for his high octane, red carpet glamour didn’t disappoint - with a mixture of body-con mini dresses in ‘look at me colours’ and billowing gowns in subtle summer hues. Add to this a runway show complete with grass, gravel and statues and Julien really was a highlight of the day!
Bringing a dose of patriotism to proceedings, Vivienne Westwood’s show was full of red, white and blue eccentric outfits - all made using traditional British fabrics. Highlights include highwaisted harlequin style trousers and all the gaudy, OTT gold accessories!
Closing the day was the notoriously exotic and flamboyant Issa, who was joined by the amazonian Naomi Campbell who modelled a brilliant gem-green gown slashed to the thigh.
With a healthy mixture of uber-sexuality and summer sensuality, we are really beginning to look forward to next summer already!
Stay tuned for all of your London Fashion Week news supplied by t5m.
Green is the new black? Fashion goes ethical at Estethica
Estethica at London Fashion Week pioneers ethical and eco-friendly fashion
This London Fashion Week has been a week of firsts - with numerous designers challenging some of the more negative criticisms levelled at the fashion industry, with Mark Fast using plus sized models to PPQ choosing a cast of all black models for their Saturday evening show.
And this season, more than ever before, the Estethica eco-friendly clothing project is really holding it’s own against some of the bigger, more established designers showing in the capital.
Estethica is a project sponsored by high street store Monsoon, and sees over 40 designers exhibiting their eco friendly and ‘fair trade’ clothes - whether it’s organic knickers or wild moss silk!
Bringing any entirely new dimension to the way we look at fashion, t5m went down to the exhibition to see what this new, fashionable and chic face of eco-friendly and ethical dressing was all about…
Firstly we spoke to Orsola de Castro, founder of From Somewhere and Estethica about the role this project plays in bringing new designers into the mainstream, as well as reminding consumers at all levels of the market of the importance and availability of ethical clothing.
It’s clear that ethical clothing really breeds invention, as we spoke to Christopher Raeburn whose summer dresses and adorable smocks were made from reappropriated military parachutes - a fabric he favours due to it’s longevity, durability and water resistance. And while you may have your reservations, his designs in bright and vibrant citrus colours looked like an essential addition to any bohemian summer wardrobe.
We also caught up with Natalie Dean, the founder of vegan shoe designer, Beyond Skin, who talked us through the various definitions of ‘ethical’ clothing - whether it concerns the people who make the clothes, where the clothes are sourced or whether there is any cruelty in the production process. For Beyond Skin, the focus is non-cruelty, so all of their fabulous shoes are made from entirely vegan products, and would not look out of place on any red carpet.
Perhaps the biggest known ethical clothing company is People Tree, who have collaborated with the likes of Topshop and Eley Kishimoto in the past, Sofia Minney (CEO) also lets slip that they are currently working with Harry Potter star Emma Watson, as well as reminding us of the various large ‘fashion houses’, such as Armani, Katherine Hamnett and Stella McCartney who have all made ethical choices with their designs.
For those of you who thought ethical fashion was all sandals and hesian sacks, think again. Estethica proves that ethical fashion is a hot bed of talent and directional pieces.
Not be missed!
Matthew Williamson at LFW SS10
Boho king Matthew Williamson returns to London Fashion Week
An exclusive interview with Matthew Williamson at London Fashion Week
Celebrity favourite Matthew Williamson is famed for his laid back, boho and beachy collections - whether it’s flirty smock dresses or floral print scarves, often sported by bohemian princesses Sienna Miller and Kate Moss.
However, this season Matthew has made something of a departure from his signature look, taking inspiration from graphic art installations and translating them into sharply cut pencil skirts, boxy jackets and cut out dresses in gaudy metallics, bright lilacs and icy greys. Matthew explains that the coral looking print on his designs is the result of blowing up orchids until they look surreal - joking that he went a little bit ’scuba’ in the design process.
Speaking exclusively to t5m, Matthew told us how honoured he was to be invited back to London Fashion Week by the British Fashion Council as part of it’s 25th anniversary celebration. Not only is he sentimental about his return to the city where he made his name, but it also means his parents can attend his shows and he can properly relax once his show is over.
Day 2: Mark Fast goes body-con, Margaret Howell remains classic and PPQ cause a stir
Mark Fast causes a stir, John Rocha packs out the BFC tent and PPQ make history at day two of London Fashion Week
So London Fashion Week continues in the same stylish vein - with Saturday seeing both new and established names showing their Spring/Summer collections as part of LFW’s 25th anniversary.
Canadian designer Mark Fast was all icy blues, shocking reds and neutral beiges in the first show of the day - with cut out knitwear and unforgiving body-con cuts. But, it wasn’t all about the clothes, as Mark also used two plus sized models in his show, a response to the recent open letter from UK Vogue editor, Alexandra Shulman decrying the size of sample cuts, perhaps? He received raptuous applause both for his choice in casting and his impeccably cut and thoughtful collection.
Kinder Aggugini based his collection on the Brothers Grimm fairytales, with an innocence vs. evil motif running through the collection - think spiked heels and blonde ringlets! The stand out piece was by far his snakeskin dresses and his Queen of Hearts black and white dress, complete with oversized top hat.
London Fashion Week stalwart, Margaret Howell, packed out her front row with the most influential names in the game with her traditional ‘British Summer’ collection of panama hats, breton stripes, crumbled linens and even a few bare midriffs!
Bringing day two to a close was design duo Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker’s PPQ - the label of choice for IT girls including Alice Dellal, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe (who all modelled last seasons collection) - with their 80’s prints, sixties make up and garish colours. But even more importantly, the pair made fashion history by using all black models in their show, a first for LFW.

Day 2: PPQ’s Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker on making headlines
Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker on why they love London and why they hope PPQ will make headlines this fashion week
PPQ made fashion history this year at London Fashion Week after using a cast of entirely black models for their catwalk show on Saturday evening - and t5m caught up with the design duo behind it all, Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker to find out all about it.
Amy explains that this fashion week has made them feel retrospective as they look back across their numerous achievements and show stopping collections, and revealed that their inspiration for S/S was bold floral prints and psychedelic colours.
We also had to ask them about their choice of models, and whether they thought it will be front page news, to which both Amy and Percy reply that they ‘hope so’ as it means their collection will get noticed! Percy also sings the praises of the models in the show, calling them a ‘great group of girls’ and explaing that PPQ never designed for just one type of person.
And even though we imagine they both must be exhausted, both Amy and Percy will still find the time to see as many shows as they can - to support their friends and because they both ‘love London’.

Day 2: The Telegraph’s Hillary Alexander on Kinder Aggugini, Charles Anastase and PPQ
The Telegraph's Hillary Alexander on Kinder Aggugini, Charles Anastase and PPQ at London Fashion Week
We catch up with fashion extraordinaire Hillary Alexander at this year’s London Fashion Week to talk shows, predictions and British history.
And Hillary must be the busiest woman come London Fashion Week - having been to nine shows on Saturday - including Kinder Aggugini who she describes as ‘really sensational’ and fashion newcomer Hannah Marshall, who clearly has the Geldof sister’s endorsement with both Peaches and Pixie in the front row. Hillary also managed to squeeze in Charles Anastase, who wowed his audience with huge tulle skirts and dresses which could easily have been mistaken for haute couture.
Hillary also manages to pretty accurately predict PPQs offering - suggesting it will be ‘girlie yet sexy, very short and with some serious boots!’ - she isn’t a fashion guru for nothing!
Talking about this being the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week - Hillary sings the praises of British fashion - explaining how it has the perfect mix of anarchy and tradition and is never afraid to take risks. Name checking the designers LFW has given birth to - including John Galliano and Alexander McQueen, Hillary tells us that every designer who feels even an ounce of patriotism will return to LFW this year.

We go backstage at PPQ to get the hair and makeup secrets
With their history making catwalk show consisting of all black models, t5m went backstage at PPQ to get an insider’s look at the hair and makeup - which was as eye catching and memorable as the clothes!
The models were given sixties inspired make up - which meant outrageous eyelashes with white details, heavy kohl eyeliner and flawless skin - courtesy of luxury make up brand, Shu Uemura. While the intricate hair styles were inspired by Egyptian queen Nefertiti, with sky hair buns wrapped in rope-like braids.
The make up and hair were designed to make the models feel empowered and strong - and t5m even find out the secrets behind the look (lots of milliners mesh wire, and a very late night!) so we can even recreate it ourselves.
The retrospective ‘time warp’ of the PPQ show continued with the designs themselves - with the garish bright colours and prints heavily referencing the eighties.
Day 1: London Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary begins in style with Erin O’Connor, Bora Aksu and Emilio de Morenas.
Caroline Charles, Eun Jeong and Bora Aksu all kick start London Fashion Week's 25th anniversary. Yesterday we saw London Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary kick off in style - with an opening ceremony at London’s historic Somerset House hosted by vice-chair of the British Fashion Council and renowned model Erin O’Connor alongside London’s mayor, Boris Johnson.
This season’s London Fashion Week will feature 59 catwalk shows - including a day dedicated to menswear, as well 200 ‘ready to wear’ exhibitors, 17 rising stars from Topshop’s NewGen Project and 28 designers from Monsoon’s eco-friendly ‘Estethica’ range.
Yesterday, Caroline Charles treated her audience to a ‘girls from Ipanema’ inspired collection - with frilled bikinis, tropical prints and polka dots - accompanied to a gentle samba soundtrack. While, newcomer Eun Jeong showcased an entirely white collection, inspired by ‘16th century ballet’ - with soft fabrics in pearlescent shades.
Bringing some serious glamour to the day was the inimitable Bora Aksu, whose models were clad in waist-cinching shapes, rich pinks and golds and some seriously sequinned tights. And rounding off proceedings was Emilio de Morena’s ethereal yet sculpted collection in refreshing cool summer shades - which the designer himself described as ‘fluid femininity’.
We can clearly look forward to an ultra-feminine summer!

Day 5: Dresses and blouses dared to bare at New York City Fashion Week
The new summer suit was the focus of Carolina Herrera’s designs as day 5 of New York Fashion Week unfolded. Working in a palette of pale colours, she focused more on the feel and texture of her designs.
Tracy Reese set the tone with big hair, bright colour and lots of layers. Her collection was awash with polka dot slips and periwinkle camisoles. “The sensual sound of samba and soothing tones of Roberto Seminario set the scene for Brazilian designer, Carlos Miele’s spring/summer 2010 show,” reports the Telegraph.
“Carnival brights, floral appliqués, snake-patterns and photo prints of Rio’s famous beaches all echoed the mood of the sexy samba lifestyle.” Showing a lot of shoulder is shaping up as a big trend as Tadashi Shoji shows us. Asymmetrical dresses and blouses dared to bare and leggings are sure to stick around for the upcoming season.
The collections featured mostly neutral colours and simple, fitted silhouettes and minidresses displayed elegant accents like rolled collars and contrasting fabrics. The luxe crinkled fabrics stood out, providing an aesthetically pleasing effect. The all white wardrobe was the highlight from Tony Cohen who opted for daring cuts and off-beat designs.

Day 4: Retro Carnival sheek at New York Fashion Week
The prints and colours were electric, with greens, blues, and metallics all over the place at Byrant Park. Derek Lam goes all retro carnival sheek at New York Fashion week. ‘His Spring collection was a departure for the designer, who is known for sophisticated and elegant clothes. He went so far in his notes to describe them as a little “tawdry,” borrowing details from summer fun destinations,’ reports Candian Press.
The Thuy Spring/Summer 2010 look is strong with bold, structured shoulders. The collection was dominated by metallics, zippers, daring stripes and bold makeup. Lela Rose’s rather confident collection sees us wearing loose-fitting blazers, colour-block shift. Her origami folded high waisted skirts sees her challenging her own design credentials.

Day 3: Leggy shapes and silhouettes at New York Fashion Week
Vivienne Tam pushed the boundries but displaying a range of girlish fabrics and frilly dresses and contrasting them with layers of bright blues and purples. Her new HP digital clutch stole the show. “Inspired by the classic love story concerto ‘Butterfly Lover,’ often described as the Chinese version of ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ the design features elegant butterflies that are brought to life on a champagne gold backdrop,” says techtree.com.
Lacoste paraded white boy-fit suits and hats, while Andy & Debb went to a step into the future with slivers, blacks for a spacey feel. The interesting cuts and stand-out colours provided a fantastic display of leggy shapes and silhouettes.

Day 2: Fashionistas look to New York for inspiration and style guidance.
Many designers paraded their outfits down the catwalks at New York City Fashion Week in what has been a delightful mix of bright, bold prints, tribal and asymmetric cuts - along with daring makeup, elegant ballgowns and the return of sleek hair, a la 1950s.
Fashionistas look to New York City Fashion week for inspiration and style guidance. “Despite the number of foreign-born designers showing in New York, they manage to produce little variation in the prototypical woman: she’s either good or she’s bad,” reports the New York Times. The catwalks saw the battle between sexy Vs Classy.
Designers are taking on the recession headfirst with Arise: African Promise Collective showcasing a number of daring prints, outworldy colours and sequins for that added glitz and glamour that sure to knock you of your feet.
This was contrasted by Venexiana’s sleek, chic, feminine ballgowns in soft pinks and subtle whites. Crisp, clean shirts stole the show with designers adorning their designs with bows, ribbons for that sophisticated look.
Nicole Miller shows us how to work the day to evening look with tailored shorts and sequin adorned dresses.

New York City Fashion Week is back again - and Spring/Summer 2010 looks set for lots of neon brights, graffiti prints and asymmetric cuts - along with daring makeup and vertiginous heels.
Fashionistas and buyers often to look to New York as the trend setting fashion week - with the styles, colours, shapes and inspirations setting the tone for the coming season - as opposed to London Fashion for example, which is famed for it’s celebration of young designers and for it’s outrageous and eccentric designs.

Most famed for her supermodel status, Yasmin Le Bon has now turned her hand to designing - rather than modelling clothes - by creating a line of classic, chic and easy-to-wear pieces for high street store, Wallis.
Of course, there was a glittering party to launch the range - which saw Yasmin wearing pieces from her collection, as she was joined by ever supportive husband, Simon Le Bon, her daughter Amber, who took to the catwalk in her mother’s designs and model turned philanthropist Lisa B.
Simon tells t5m that Yasmin always ‘throws herself into a project’, an sentiment echoed by Wallis owner, Sir Philip Green who explains to us that, just like Wallis as a brand, Yasmin is ’stylish and elegant’ and that the collection is sure to succeed as Yasmin was so ‘integrally involved’.
Yasmin Le Bon’s YLB Collection is available online from the 12th September and is in stores from the 15th September.
