The Economist launches 1843 and appoints Associate Publisher
The Economist Group announced today that Luke Robins has been named Associate Publisher EMEA of 1843, its bi-monthly culture and lifestyle magazine formerly called Intelligent Life. The new global magazine will cover culture, travel, design, style, technology, food and drink and body and mind as well as long-form features. It will be available by subscription, on newsstands and will be sent to more than 450,000 of The Economist’s most engaged readers around the world. Luke arrives with a wealth of experience, having served for 12 years at Hearst UK and Hearst-Rodale UK in various senior commercial and publishing roles. He has worked for brands including Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Esquire, among others, where he led the development of multichannel revenue streams across print, digital and tablet editions as well as Esquire’s the Big Black Book and Big Watch Book. During his tenure, the luxury men’s style title saw a 65 percent increase in commercial revenues. Robins has extensive experience in global luxury communications, digital innovation and brand development. Robins joins the team today and is based in the UK office.
