Food and drink magazine Foodism launches in Toronto
UK Publishing house Square Up Media has announced its first jump across the pond, choosing Toronto, Canada as its first international market for the highly-successful magazine, Foodism. Foodism, one of five media brands owned by Square Up Media, was launched in 2013 and has grown to become London England’s largest circulating food and drink magazine. The glossy magazine is read by 110,000 Londoners each month while its weekly newsletter is subscribed to by 60,000 readers. The company identified Toronto as a new home for the magazine after recognising the significant growth the food and drink industry has seen in the city over the past few years, yet the lack of media dedicated to it. Foodism Toronto will follow the same path as its UK counterpart, launching first as a website and weekly newsletter this month, with the monthly ‘freemium’ print magazine to follow in 2016. The e-newsletter will produce fresh, bite-sized content direct to inboxes every Wednesday with an online home at www.foodism.to. Content wise, the website and weekly newsletter will be devoted to exploring local and international food trends, bars and restaurants around the city and profiles and tips and tricks from some of the country’s top chefs and mixologists. The Toronto team, lead by Faist, will comprise of local writers and food and drink experts, with the London office playing a key part in the design and overall operations side.
