navabi appoints former eBay and NET-A-PORTER executive as Chief Merchant

Online plus-size fashion retailer navabi has announced the appointment of former eBay and NET-A-PORTER executive, Miriam Lahage, as Chief Merchant. The new position will see Miriam head up the online retailer’s buying and merchandising departments; developing its premium branded proposition while also driving forward the development of navabi’s own brand offering. navabi offers more than 100 international plus-size brands, including Elena Miro, Johnny Was and James Jeans. These labels sit alongside navabi’s two own labels and will be joined in April by the navabi collection, a sophisticated range of fashionable styles designed with the plus-size woman in mind. Having first joined navabi in May 2014 as a strategic advisor, Miriam will now also help oversee the brand’s broader marketing and trading divisions, bringing together both business strands as navabi looks to consolidate its position as a global market leader. The appointment follows the closing of a funding round worth €25 million in January, led by Bauer Venture Partners. Prior to joining navabi, Miriam held several senior ecommerce and fashion roles. Most recently she was on the Executive Board at leading German department store group Peek & Cloppenburg, leading new business and ecommerce, and serving as Interim Head of Marketing. She acted as consultant to NET-A-PORTER and was also Global Head of Fashion at eBay for the $9.7 billion fashion division.
