Clothes Show Live announces Creative Award Programme winners

Clothes Show Live’s Creative Award Programme, supporting the future of fashion, culminated with an awards ceremony in December commending some of the country’s best young creative talent.

Several categories covering design, craft and communication were judged by Educational Ambassador and Fashion Commentator Caryn Franklin, celebrity stylist Karl Willett and Clothes Show Live MD Gavin Brown who went through hundreds of entries from students at schools, sixth forms, colleges and universities from around the UK.

    Full list of winners include:
Young Artist of the Year – Samantha Mulliner
Young Handbag Designer of the Year – Jodi Feddon
Young Fashion Photographer of the Year in association with More! magazine – Catherine Windeatt
Young Designer of the Year – Curtis Li-Young
Young Journalist of the Year in association with Cosmopolitan magazine – Cristabel Hastings
Knitted Textile Designer of the Year sponsored by Rowan Yarns – Naomi Lobley
UCLA Varsity Clothing Project: Emerging Designer of the Year award –   Melahat Uskuri (Womenswear) and Rebecca Saygi (Menswear)

Based on core learning criteria as set by leading examining bodies, the scheme awards bursaries and work experience placements to students helping them gain the recognition and experience necessary to kick start their chosen careers.

Caryn Franklin said: “The level of talent this year was unprecedented with the best level of entries submitted since the programme’s launch – we were seriously impressed with both the skill and quality of submissions across the board. The winners should be really proud of their achievements, and should use this as a springboard into careers in their chosen industries. ”

Gavin Brown added: “We are constantly working with schools and colleges to keep students’ wider learning in mind with many entries going towards their end of year coursework and professional portfolios. Whilst a number of big high-street names do exhibit with us at the show, it’s just as important for us to showcase to a wider fashion audience the work of designers and artists of the future who are coming through the ranks.”
