Fashion trade publication Drapers has announced the shortlist for the forthcoming Drapers Footwear and Accessories Awards. In association with the British Footwear Association (BFA) the awards were officially opened for entry at the International Footwear Tradeshow Micam, Milan in September 2013. Amongst the brands and retailers shortlisted for awards, Ted Baker, Loake and Barker Shoes will compete with others for the Men’s Footwear Brand of The Year title whilst The Women’s Footwear Brand of The Year category see’s an extremely strong line up including French Sole, Birkenstock and Fly London. High Street Multiples Debenhams, John Lewis and River Island are shortlisted for both their accessories and footwear offerings and online retailers including ASOS and MyBag.com will contest the etailer of the year awards. This year, for the very first time, a new category has been introduced to recognise the efforts of UK based brands on the international stage. The Exporter of the Year award recognises the companies that have represented the British footwear and accessories industry overseas with entries from Base London, Esska, Pauls Boutique and Penrose London. The Drapers Footwear and Accessories Awards also recognises new and emerging businesses with Butterfly Twists, Mi-Pac, Mocks and Olivia Burton Watches competing for The Growing Brand of The Year award. The awards also rewards the efforts of the sector’s independent retailers with nominations for local businesses including Tower Boots (London), Covet (Edinburgh) and Shoonique (Ikley). The winners will be announced on May 1.
