Graduate Fashion Week announces George as Official Education Partner
Graduate Fashion Week has announced supermarket clothing brand George as the Official Education Partner of the 2017 GFW showcase this June. Returning for the fifth year running, George continues to sponsor the Catwalk to Commerce Award which will be judged on June 7 and announced on the catwalk at the renowned Gala Award Show that same evening. The brand will honour the winning graduate with a £1,000 prize and a further £250 prize to the winning graduate’s university. As part of the continued partnership, George will be present during Graduate Fashion Week with their first onsite Education Hub inviting school and college students to Fashion Their Future. This interactive space will be set up for both younger students and graduates to obtain advice directly from the George team including buyers, merchandisers and designers who will be on hand throughout the four-day event. All students will receive an educational goodie bag to accompany their visit, featuring career and higher education information. They will have the opportunity to experience live catwalk shows, see examples of graduate work and portfolios as well as finding out first hand from graduates their experiences of university and the application process. Further masterclasses will be held in the Education Hub including drop in CV & portfolio workshops, university tutor talks and hourly ‘Day In The Life Of’ presentations. George also partners with F.A.D (Fashion Awareness Direct) an award-winning charity which offers young people the opportunity to get ahead in their creative careers.
