French photographer Jérôme Ferrière has announced the launch of a new photographic book Ibiza Rocks, a photographic rock ’n roll retrospective of Ibiza’s new generation. The book, which is curated by Dawn Hindle, Creative Director and co-founder of Ibiza Rocks and co-owner of Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, pays homage to millennial sub-culture, music fans and Ibiza-culture lovers. The book features several images of the ‘frontline of fame’ and includes original quotes from many of the artists who have been included, from Nile Rodgers, Liam Gallagher to Rag N Bone Man, Kylie, The Libertines, Lily Allen, Happy Mondays, FatBoy Slim, Boy George and Marky Ramone, as well as global icons such as Idris Elba and Howard Marks. Many of the portraits were taken in Ferrière’s mobile studio just minutes before and after each artist’s appearance on stage to deliberately capture that moment of explosive tension and adrenaline-fuelled energy. All of the images have been shot on film using a classic Hasselblad to produce a crisp, black and white camera technique. Shot, developed, scanned and devoid of digital photography the images contain the true grains of film photography. Ibiza Rocks will be exhibited during two separate summer events in London and in Ibiza, the book is available from June 2017.
