Kate Moss to receive a Special Recognition Award at the British Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Council announces that Kate Moss will receive a Special Recognition Award at the British Fashion Awards for her 25 year-long career and continued influence on the fashion industry as the fashion icon of her generation. Kate will receive her honour at the British Fashion Awards on December 2 at the London Coliseum. Kate’s career began in 1988 when she was discovered in New York by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Management. Kate’s achievements in the fashion industry have seen her launch her own collections for TOPSHOP, Longchamp, Fred and Rimmel. Her next collection for TOPSHOP will launch in 2014. Kate has previously been awarded model of the year at the British Fashion Awards in 2006 and in 2009 was the first individual to receive a British Fashion Award decided entirely by public vote. The London 25 award was introduced in celebration of 25 years of British fashion to recognise an individual who embodies the spirit of London and British fashion. Won by Kate, the success of this award led to the British Style Award being introduced the following year.
