Mini Moderns has announced the launch their latest wallpaper and return to Decorex 2019. Inspired by visits to The Geffrye Museum – specifically the 1890 drawing room – Lucky Lantern celebrates the Eastern styles prevalent in the Aesthetic Movement. The design features tasselled Chinese lanterns, decorated with a Mini Moderns take on the popular Chinese motif of Suihan Sanyou, comprising illustrations of pine needles, plum blossom and bamboo. These Three Friends of Winter (known as 松竹梅 – sōng zhú méi) are revered in Eastern culture as they flourish in cold weather, and therefore symbolise strength in adversity. Lucky Lantern is a key print in the 2019 Culture! Collection, which has seen the design duo rekindle some of the partnerships they have formed with museums and cultural organisations over more than a decade. Mini Moderns will be exhibiting the collection in full at Decorex 2019.
