Wella Professionals and UNICEF announce winners of Making Waves

Hair brand Wella Professionals and children’s organisation UNICEF have selected two hairdressers from the UK to travel to Brazil to take part in a mentoring scheme, as part of the Wella-UNICEF Making Waves partnership. Tom Wright, from Soul Hair in Chester, and Philip Bell, from Ishoka salon in Aberdeen, will be training and inspiring disadvantaged young people in Brazil and helping them to build careers in hairdressing. Together with life skills education, focused on personal and social development, hairdressing training and mentoring are key components of the WELLA-UNICEF MAKING WAVES partnership.  This aims to support disadvantaged young people in Brazil to raise their aspirations, realise their potential and fulfil their rights. As part of the partnership, there will be a two-week mentoring scheme in October 2013 when both Tom and Philip will travel to Rio de Janeiro to share their hairdressing passion and knowledge with a selected group of young people.
