Rah went to the Fashion Insight Speed Networking Event this week.  It was fab!  Lots of like-minded professionals from the Fashion and Beauty industry were all there to use each 2 minute networking slot to make new key contacts, learn about each others business’s and find new opportunities.

The speedy format was a huge success and means that you really do meet with everyone there!   I was quite exhausted by the end of the evening but I left having met some wonderful contacts ranging from PR companies, bloggers, designers,  and photographers. 

Many thanks to Fashion Insight and Diana Young for organising such a fantastic event, looking forward to the next one in June!

PR Couture: Round Two: Fashion Speed Networking in London, October 7

If you are anything like me, networking events are rarely more satisfying than the watered down coffee so often served. If you’re lucky enough to be in London, Fashion Speed Networking has eliminated that frantic standing around looking for a friendly face (or a great pair of shoes!) to talk to, offering something efficient and effective instead.

Over 100 industry pros turned up at last month’s inaugural event for fast-chatting/moo card exchanging. A bell rang every 20 seconds before allowing 2 minutes for introductions. 2 minutes! Colored badges indicated whether individuals were fashion, beauty or industry professionals, making it easy to tailor discussions for maximum impact. The concept proved so successful that Fashion Insight has decided to turn it into a bimonthly occurrence.

Networking can be the most important duty we undertake when one is looking to further themselves in a career. Thankfully 'Fashion in sight' are helping us all. The Fashion distribution service pride themselves on holding Speed Networking nights bi-monthly for Fashion people to mingle and mix with other individuals.  It was a very interesting night.  I was accompanied by PR man Prince Cassius and Fashion blogger Leroy Dawkins and they both agreed it was a worth while event that every fashionista should at least attend once. The Coterie: Welcome to the new system of connecting with industry professionals without wasting time – Speed Networking. Fashion and beauty online news service Fashion Insight, recently held the first successful speed networking event at London’s CUBE, with a matchmaking format encouraging everyone to make acquaintances with people they wouldn’t normally come across in a working environment. Fashion Insight’s very first Fashion and Beauty Speed Networking Event launches to a resounding success and paves the way for a new bi-monthly event. The Cube, co-working space, provided the perfect setting for PRs, stylists, photographers, writers, designers, fashion event organisers, bloggers, retail buyers, skin care and cosmetics brands to network. 

More than 100 guests chatted amongst themselves for the first thirty minutes whilst milling through their Oriflame Goody Bags, containing cosmetic and skin care products; mini cup cakes courtesy Cakes and Cupcakes Galore; and refreshments provided by the Vitamin Water sampling team. The format of the speed networking session was fast paced with the bell ringing every 20 seconds before allowing 2 minutes for introductions. Coloured badges indicated whether individuals were fashion, beauty or industry professionals which also helped to identify whether or not to approach specific individuals.
